Commander takes his Eighth Blue Ribbon at the 2007 North American Alpaca Show.
At 2 1/2 years of age, with no white markings and his solid true black & gray genetics, he continues to impress the judges, as well as everyone else at the show.
This true black male out of the multiple Color Champion gray herdsire, Navigator, is a real show stopper. Commander's extremely soft, shiny fleece exhibits very bold, wide amplitude crimp.
Commander's
grandparents, on both sides, have exceptional genetics.
After much pre-show attention, we were very proud that Commander earned a Blue Ribbon, along with a Reserve Championship, in his first show ring appearance at the 2005 SEPA Alpaca Show.
Following that debut, Commander then stood tall once again four weeks later and took a Blue Ribbon and a Color Championship at the Breeder's Choice Futurity at Magical Farms.
To quote the judge, "This young male, the youngest in the class, is conformationally correct and phenotypically perfect.
I see here a fine, dense fleece, not common in dark animals, that displays wonderful brightness and abundant character."
And, to finish off his first show season, at the 2005 Empire Alpaca Extravaganza, with 50 black males entered, Commander took his third Blue Ribbon in an extremely competitive class, followed by another well deserved Color Championship.
In 2006 & so far in 2007, Commander has gone on to take five more blue ribbons and 2 more Championship banners.
His tally of 5 Championship Banners and 8 Blue Ribbons certainly puts him on par with his outstanding sire and we look forward to a very successful breeding career for this exceptional, true black male.
