Red Beard is a super fine, dense junior herdsire with flawless conformation and excellent bone. He's a Snowmass Nova son, a true Herdsire with a proven track record of producing maroon brown. If you're looking to breed vicuna style fiber in maroon brown (or any color) Red Beard is your boy!
His superior uniformity and fineness is plain to see in his first 2 histograms. 18.1 microns & CV 19.3! 21.1 microns with a CV of 19.3! WOW! His 2010 micron was higher but it is not truly representative of the awesome ELITE genetics this young male has! After all, his prepotent BLACK sire had a micron of 23 and CV of 21 as a 5 year old working herdsire! In addition, his dam, Miranda, has excellent density, fineness & crimp.
At the 2008 North American Alpaca Show, Red Beard took 1st out of a class of 11. Mike Safley commented that he had the finest fleece in the class, along with excellent uniformity of micron & character, as well as having correct conformation.
