Farm Mission Statement:
HaSu Ranch breeds and sells superior Peruvian Suri and
Huacaya Alpacas to new and established breeders. We are
dedicated to breeding alpacas that produce a dense,
uniform fleece across the entire animal. We are focused
on the three main factors of the alpaca fiber market:
fiber fineness, uniformity of fleece and increased
shearing weight. Our breeding program is built around
solid scientifically tested techniques. We love our
alpacas and know you will too! Come see what we mean by
the Heart and Science of alpaca breeding. View our
online alpaca sales list and see for yourself,
the quality of our results.
Farm Description:
Glowing fires and tasty fare warm the visitors downstairs
as dancing and music fill the ballroom upstairs at Burr
Tavern. Outside travelers continue to arrive, securing
their horses to the post before going in to share in the
homey repast of beefsteak and port on this night in 1820.
Some things have changed since Aaron Burr and his
brother built and operated their Tavern along the
Catskill Turnpike-- some things haven't. The grog and
victuals still bring good cheer, though now travelers
hear a new song--the humming and cooing of alpaca nearby.
Today, the tavern looks out over picturesque hills and
pastures filled with elite animals. HaSu Ranch Alpacas,
at Burr Tavern, sits atop a mountain on 126 acres in the
beautiful Catskill Mountains. Visitors here are free to
wander and explore the many trails that wind through
dense woods, over rocky crags and grassy knolls. Every
season offers a unique beauty and enjoyment. There's
snowshoeing, sledding, skiing and sitting by a fire in
the Winter, flower picking, bird watching, hiking and
mountain biking from Spring to Fall, and the opportunity
to view the most amazing Autumnal Symphony of
color.
Our colorful showcase herd of Huacaya and
Suri alpacas adds a new chapter to the book of Burr
Tavern. Come enjoy the mountains and spend an hour, the
day or more. Just three hours from New York City, and an
hour from Albany, we'll treat you to the joys of alpaca
ownership and good glass of your favorite grog.
