NECC Wrap Up
While there are only
a few bills still outstanding and we are awaiting the final numbers, it is
apparent that the New England Coastal Classic was close to breaking even. Thanks are due to Lennie Foss, Nicola Blake and
Jack Dibb, as well as the many other volunteers who worked tirelessly to make
this show run as smoothly as it did.The
BOD wishes to thank all those who, in any way, helped to make NECC's first year
at the DCU so successful.
DCU does not have any dates available for us to run NECC there in 2010.The BOD is exploring other possible venues in
which to hold the 2010 show. The
Cheshire County Fairgrounds in Keene, NH is one possibility that we are
investigating.This building is 32,000
feet square.Because we have moved so
far from the coast this year and next year's show doesn't appear to be near
water either, we have discussed changing the name from NECC to New England
Alpaca Classic. This way the name of the
show works, no matter where the venue is.We are also thinking of moving the show to the spring since there are so
many fall shows and the fairgrounds are available for the weekend of April 16 -
18, 2010.While this is the same weekend
as The Futurity, we feel confident that we can have a successful show on the
same weekend.Even though we don't have
much time between now and April, Lennie has reassured us that there should be
plenty of time to get this show up and running if we are all willing to help
with the planning.THe 2010 show may be
a smaller show, but we are hoping to keep it a Level III.
Assignmentshave been given
out to get this show going.Lennie will
get more info to us about the facility.Dan will check on the availability of Judges.Cheryl will check with Peg Stephens to see if
she can supply a crew for the weekend of April 16 -18, 2010.
report was given and this year's balance on hand is close to last year's.Since Jim will be turning over the
treasurer's position to Lennie in January, a motion was made and seconded to
appoint Lennie Foss treasurer as of the first of the year.Jim will get everything ready to pass on to
Lennie so the transition will be seamless.
The question on
having PayPal available to members for all transactions was discussed.Since the membership renewalis coming up quickly, we need to get this settled
as soon as possible.Bill will be
contacting Hazen to iron out the details of thePayPal set up and report
back to us at our next meeting, Wednesday December 16.We want to be able to send out an email blast
to the membership very soon.
Barbie updated the
Board as to the upcoming marketing being done. There was a problem changing the Constant Contact Board of Directors
information listed on the left side of the template, but Bill has helped Barbie
fix that and a Constant Contact will be going out immediately to see if anyone
is interested in advertising in the NEAF brochure for 2010.
The Farm and Forest
Expo is February 5 and 6 at the Raddison in Manchester, NH.Jim has already sent a check for the vendor
space and Barbie will be bringing animals. She is also creating 300 bookmarks with an alpaca on one side and alpaca
info on the other to be placed in the gift bags.
The call for ads
needs to go out for NEAF and Barbie will be checking with Nicola on how to add
the registration for NEAF to the website.
Dan is looking into
the possibility of holding an event similar to NEAF in other states.
A motion was made and
seconded to keep the NEAOBA dues the same for 2010 as they were in 2009.Currently, a farm membership is $75 and an
associate membership is $45.
committee needs to be put together for 2010.Barbie will call Jen Boshar to see if she is still interested.
