Jack Dibb, NEAOBA treasurer since May 2004, founded Sallie's Fen Alpacas in Barrington, NH, with Sallie Whitlow in 1994. Nicola Blake has been his partner since 1999. Jack and Nicola are both environmental research scientists, focused primarily on atmospheric chemistry; Jack is employed by the University of New Hampshire and Nicola telecommutes to the University of California-Irvine. Sallie's Fen is a relatively small farm, with around 20 alpacas. We plan to maintain a herd of this size, since it allows lots of individual attention to each animal even while working full time "day jobs. We strive to improve fleece quality in colored animals, especially black and gray. We feel that new small farms are critical to the alpaca industry and strive to support them, regardless of whether they are clients or not.
