NEAOBA BOD Meeting

November 18, 2010

7:30 P.M.

This is a continuation of the November 11, 2010 meeting agenda.

4.  New England Alpaca Classic

A discussion was held to evaluate the information we received from the members who attended the New England Coastal Classic at the DCU after we contacted them by phone for input as to whether we should hold another show at the DCU in 2011 or not.  We also discussed the proposed cost of the show as compared to the 2009 show.  It was determined that the overall response from the attending members was very favorable. We realize that with the current economic situation more marketing for this show is important.  We also need to be creative in finding ways to keep the cost of entering the show down to attract exhibitors.  Ultimately, a corporate sponsor would be ideal.  If we decide to proceed with the NEAC, we will explore this in more depth.

After a lengthy discussion, a motion was made and seconded to hold the New England Alpaca Classic at the DCU in Worcester on November 11 - 13, 2011.

Lennie will try to come up with creative ways to save money and share this with us at our next meeting.  He will also talk to Nicola Blake to see if she would be willing to get out a Constant Contact with this information in the next week.  An advance copy should be sent to the Board for approval prior to it being sent to the membership.  Lennie will have her call Bill so she can put this information into the new format.

5.  NEAOBA News Online Proposal

The size of the page is a concern, as scrolling is necessary to view the page in its entirety.  As it currently is, it seems too tedious to read.  Also, we are still not clear about the one-time charge for the set up.  Barbie will contact Alisa Mierzejewski with our concerns and get back to us in December.

6.  Marketing

The upcoming events we know about for 2011 are NEAF and Farm and the Forest Expo.

We had another discussion regarding the printing of more bumper stickers.  5000 last about two years and can be purchased for $1904.  The Board was not sure that bumper stickers get us the biggest bang for our buck, so other options will be explored.  Sticky Note pads with the NEAOBA logo and contact information were mentioned as a possibility.  We will Google promo items for ideas.   

7.  Events

This was discussed at the November 11, 2010 meeting.

8.  Education

Matt was unable to report on this as he was not able to make the meeting.

9. Membership

The renewal date of January 1, 2011 is quickly approaching.

10.  Other Business

None

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 7:30 P.M.
