The NEAOBA newsgroup has been established with YahooGroups and is completely free of charge. It is available, to members only, for promotion of communication, education, fiber care, animal husbandry and growth. It is not available as a means of advertising.

Members are strongly encouraged to join the newsgroup, as many important announcements will be made here. NEAOBA plans to use this newsgroup for general announcements (meetings/cancellation of meetings, Newsletter deadlines, elections, NEAFP communications, membership renewals, etc.) and for discussion of NEAOBA issues. We also invite members to use this forum as a support group for alpaca owners. Members may post freely to this newsgroup, provided they observe all rules (stated below).

For your convenience, you may opt for one of 3 forms of message delivery:

Individual emails—this means each time a message is posted to the newsgroup, you will receive an email (this is the default—if you don’t specifically change this option, you will receive an email for each posting).

Daily Digest—each night (or early morning), Yahoo will combine any messages posted for the previous day into one email and deliver it to you.

No email—you can be a member of the newsgroup, but opt not to receive emails. With this option, you will go to the newsgroup’s message board to view messages at your convenience.

RULES (as of 3/29/01):

  1. All forms of advertising are strictly prohibited. This includes posting of sales lists, farm events, services (stud, fiber processing, etc.), products for sale (fiber, farm, etc.). Reasonable tag lines in signatures will be allowed provided they don’t violate the above rules.
  2. Communication that does not concern the entire membership is prohibited. If you have business with other NEAOBA members, which doesn’t concern the entire membership, you should discuss your business with those members directly, not on the newsgroup.
  3. All messages posted must be civil and respectful of other members. This is not a format for publicly airing grievances.
  4. NEAOBA Directors, Webmaster, Newsletter Editor, Committee Chairpersons and Event Coordinators may post freely regarding upcoming issues or events.
  5. For support purposes, members may post questions and answers related to raising alpacas.
  6. Members may discuss current issues and events, provided the discussion is directed at the entire membership.
  7. Chain mail and jokes are prohibited.
  8. Members may post messages freely unless they break any of the above rules. Members will be given a warning after their first violation of the above rules. Members will be banned from the newsgroup after their second offense. All warnings will be made privately.

NOTE: Rules are subject to change without notification. Current rules will be posted on the members only page of the website.
