Free Online Seminar: Building Community Through Fibershed
Featuring Southeastern New England Fibershed
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025
7:00pm via Zoom
Join SE New England Fibershed Director Amy DuFault as she walks you through what’s happening within this fibershed and how you can take part!
A fibershed, loosely defined as a region supporting farmers, weavers, mills, artists, and scientists, can create a thriving community by fostering local connections and sustainability. Farmers provide raw materials like wool or cotton, while weavers and artisans transform these fibers into products that reflect local craftsmanship and creativity. Local mills process these materials, reducing the carbon footprint of industrial production and boosting the local economy. Scientists and researchers contribute by developing sustainable farming methods and improving soil health.
This collaborative network creates a self-sustaining ecosystem where each part of the process supports the others. This approach not only stimulates economic growth but also fosters a deeper sense of connection among individuals, reinforcing the importance of supporting local industries and craftsmanship for a more sustainable future.
